Ron and Sherry Palmer have two books on family law. The first, NOT In the Child's Best Interest, walks parents through the idea of parental rights and how the constitution protects those rights if properly applied. The second, Protecting Parent-Child Bonds, introduces a proposed constitutional amendment to increase the protections of parental rights and discusses how it would work and be applied.
Ron and Sherry are following a path similar to how women gained equal rights in this country. They pursued a dual path of court action and the "Equal Rights Amendment." The two initiatives worked in tandem, one driving the other. In the end the amendment came very close to being ratified but failed to get the last needed vote in time to meet the deadline. Regardless, the courts have effectively provided equal rights for women through numerous court cases. We look to follow a similar path.
